Things i wish i’d known

These are points from instructors reflecting on their first season working at Park City and some lessons they learned throughout their time. This is a cheat sheet that gives you some lessons you can learn the easy way instead of the hard way.

Check Your Schedule Daily

Check in Before Starting Your Lesson

Make sure you check in with a supervisor before you leave the yard. Do you know where your lunch is assigned today?

Remember the Essentials

Take a picture of your roster (you might loose the paper). Always carry a few pens and a note pad.

Parents Can Misslevel Their Kids

Parents don’t always know their child’s level. They may claim a level to high or too low for the student. Always talk to the student after parents leave to see what they know. On snow assessment is also key to verify their skill level.

Don’t rely on Edgy Wedgies

They can be a helpful tool but are often over used and used too soon in lessons. Students that need them should not go up Pay Day or Saddleback!

Returning Students

When teaching students that pre booked multiple days, you may not be able to teach them every day depending on skill level and priority.
