Engage with the Team
TALK to other instructors. Ask LOTS of questions.
Talk to other new instructors, form connections with the people you are working with every day. Our experienced staff are full of amazing information, they would love to share where to go, good terrain, best terrain for specific lessons, Tips to get Tips.
Talk to the other instructors assigned to your level. If your supervisor hasn’t given you specific instructions communicate on dividing up kids and trying to make groups so everyone gets the best lesson we can give.
Help each other on the hill when possible, if you know the instructors around your level you can work together to make adjustments when needed.
Our trainers are always around and ready to help. Bring your questions to them; lesson plan help, hard students, training and certification help.
Make connections in your training groups.
Working towards a certification is so much easier when you have a group of other instructors to work with.
You may only get one day a week in training, with a crew you can bounce ideas off of each other and practice lessons and explanations to each other.
Our supervisor team is also another connection point that can get over looked.
Our supervisor team is another group that has a wealth of knowledge, especially operations based questions.
Supervisors can also help with lesson questions and help with training or know where to get the best information/help.
You can always request to go out on the hill with a supervisor to work through questions or explore terrain your are considering taking a lesson to.
