Park city is huge!
There is so much terrain at Park City. You can easily get turned around or lost if you do not have a plan where you are going. It can be easy to look at the map and make assumptions about terrain and get into difficult situations.
You should NEVER take students into terrain that you have not skied yourself.
You should have knowledge of the terrain, exit strategies if needed, how to get a group through the hardest sections.
Our experienced staff have endless knowledge of the terrain you want to explore on your days off. Talk to them about what to do in areas that interested you.
The best and safest way to explore new terrain is in training.
We offer many different types of clinics that will explore the terrain at Park City. They range from exploring terrain for lessons, how to take lessons base to base, and improving your riding on more difficult terrain.
When signing up for clinics remember to start easy and work your way into the more difficult clinics. Our trainers will be able to help assess if you are ready to tackle our more difficult terrain and give you things to work one to prepare you and improve your skiing.
Making connections with other instructors is another good way to explore the mountain.
Riding as a group is always the best option to keep everyone safe. Each person in the group brings there own knowledge to help the group.
Many of our experienced riders will ride on their days off and you may be able to join them as they ski the less known spots and secret stashes.
Many experienced instructors struggle to turn off being an instructor and will give you all kinds of information if you get the chance to ski with them.
Another opportunity to explore is to ski with a supervisor.
Our team can show you great teaching spots, unknown areas that are fun for students or less traveled.
Reach out after lessons have started to see if they are available to take some runs with you.
