Extend Your Winter Instructor Training

WELCOME

We are excited to have you here in Park City! This training is to orient you to a new place and help you feel more comfortable about doing what you are good at in a new environment. 

Objectives: Kickstart your arrival and preparation for your first day instructing at Park City Mountain!

Arrival DAy Training:

2:30 PM : Facility Orientation (Optional if Available, Paid Attendance)

  • Optional Facility Orientation Tour at Your Assigned Village

    • Mountain Village

      • 2:30pm Meet at the eagle statue (view image below)

      • Free Public Transit - 101 Inbound Every 15 Minutes from the 7-11 Stop

        • Return from Mountain Village Base 101 Outbound

      • Please Park in the Silver King Lot - If you have not yet completed the Employee Parking Permit Application, please visit the Parking Page to do so now

    • Canyons Village

      • 2:30pm Meet at the Umbrella Bar at the top of the Cabriolet (Video Below)

REQUIRED 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM : Operational Policy Meeting

  • CANYONS Village Team Building (Across street towards the mountain from Slopeside Housing)

  • DREAMCATCHER CONFERENCE ROOM - Upper Level (Enter from uphill side of building.)

GETTING TO TRAINING:

Mountain Village:

Please park at the Silver King Lot, next to the Silver King Hotel or Use public transit to the Park City Mountain Base (101 Inbound from Canyons Village). We will meet at the eagle statue (click below to view the video on getting to the eagle statue). The Blue line below represents the walking path from the Silver King lot, and Bus Stop to the eagle statue, Marked with a red “X”.

Complete the Employee Parking Permit Application if you have a car. Please visit the Parking Page to do so now.

SOME REMINDERS AND GENERAL INFO!

SOME HOUSEKEEPING

  1. You must have your Employee Pass for all on-snow activity and employee perks and discounts.

  2. You must have a helmet on your head during all on snow activity.  If you do not have a helmet you can be issued one from the uniform room.

  3. Uniforms should be worn during all work hours with zippers zipped, well fitting, and all underlayers tucked in. When riding a chairlift you must wear either the outer shell jacket or the softshell.

  4. Part of the uniform is your Name Tag - if you have not a name tag, please submit your Name Tag Request now.


SOME RULES OF THUMB FOR SUCCESSFUL Work Days:

  • DO Be on time and have all of your gear.

  • DO Be Prepared to be Outside All Day. Wear appropriate snow-sports clothes for the weather: gloves, snow pants, a snow jacket, and an extra layer for cold days.  Wear one pair of good ski socks!

  • DO Fill Your Pockets: Sunscreen, Lip Balm, Pen, Roster Book, Small Water Bottle.

  • DO Have Access to the Instructor Survival Guide

  • DO Wear Your Helmet: They are required, and don’t forget goggles!

  • DO Check the Forecast: Park City Weather Forecast

  • DO Bring a Small Notebook and Pencil if you like to take notes

  • DO Have your Pass!

  • DO Use Sunscreen!
