Alpine Certification
Certification is a process of becoming more versatile, skilled, knowledgeable and a more effective communicator in specific disciplines. The Park City SSBS supports our instructors through pay incentives and new certification reimbursement. If you are considering taking the PSIA/AASI Level 1 Exam to obtain a nationally recognized certification this season, here is some important information. The level 1 Certification is a nationally recognized certification and Level 1 members meet a minimum set of standards across the United States.
The Level 1 certification and membership with PSIA/AASI Intermountain Region provides a wealth of additional benefits. Benefits include access to educational resources, lift ticket discounts in all regions, and nationwide “Pro Deals” on accessories (clothing), and hard goods (skis/bindings/snowboards), and may more benefits for members only.
Level 1 Exam Requirements
You may attend Level 1 Exam preparation clinics in order to prepare you for the exam process, or have taught numerous lessons at your home area
Pay the Level Exam fee
The Level 1 Exam consists of an e-learning module and an on-snow evaluation
Complete the E-Learning Module (link) and have a minimum of 72 hours prior to the exam
You will be required to become a member of PSIA/AASI National and the Intermountain Region
The membership period is July – June 30
You may bundle the Level 1 Exam fee and Membership fee together
On the morning of the Exam day
Arrive at the designated time/place with proof of PSIA/AASI membership
Bring your equipment
Bring a positive attitude
Verified completion of the e-learning module prior to arrival

Bring the proficiency log

Once you are certified as a Level 1 Alpine Instructor
· In order to maintain your certification level, you are required to maintain your annual membership, and attend PSIA/AASI events for required education credits
· The Level 1 Exam counts as your current season’s education credit
Alpine Level 2/3 Exams
