PRIORITY
Instructor Priority is a method of distributing work fairly, in a logical and repeatable order, while still allowing discretion for a guest centered approach. An instructor’s position on the priority list does not create an entitlement to specific lesson types or assignments. Private lessons are assigned based on the best match between the instructor and the guest with priority being an additional factor in the decision. It is the Managers and/or Supervisor's discretion to determine what type of work is assigned with the focus on the needs of the guest and business.
At the start of the season, the priority list will be based upon the previous season’s priority system and data. New hires and returning staff without stats from the prior year will be placed into the priority list as a group, based on Certification and Status. Mid‐season updates use the data from the current season only.
Priority will be recalculated twice in the season, one week after the close of the pay period, once after the Winter Break (PPE Jan 5, going live Jan 14) and again after President’s Week (PPE March 1, going live March 10).
Priority Score Calculation = (Base + Accreditations) X Returning Guest Score X Attendance.
Base: Use your Current* Certification, Work Commitment and Location Flexibility in the table below to find your Base Points.
Location Flexibility: There are times when business levels require that we adjust staffing between the two base locations, Mountain Village and Canyons Village.
Flex means that you are willing to be scheduled to the alternate base, without us confirming with you first, in exchange for higher priority always. We will only adjust the base 48 hours or more in advance of the work day.
Notify means that a supervisor will confirm a location change with you before making an adjustment.
Note: You will be able to update your Location Flexibility selection with your first schedule at the start of the season, and again for the first priority update in January.
Note: Instructors who are no longer current in their certification will receive a certification weight value equivalent to one level below their expired certification. Proof of previous certification must verify expired certification Make sure you send your current cert card to PCInstAdmin@vailresorts.com

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
Special Considerations made for the guest will trump priority, giving an instructor more access to be assigned work, and will be paid as assigned. Such accommodations include a guest’s wish for a specific language skill, female or male or children’s‐specific instructor, or a Terrain Park or Bump Lesson.
