Welcome: Park City Ski and Snowboard School has designed this training to help you start your career as an instructor. The topics covered identify key points of information needed to be safe, have fun, drive values, serve others, do good, do right, and be inclusive. The New Hire Assistant Instructor training includes 2 days of hands on training and online learning modules. After completing the training series, New Hire Assistant instructors will have a baseline skill to teach our youngest children and assist with large class sizes. Please note, if you are injured during paid training, such as New Hire training, please tell a supervisor as soon as possible. Safety is our priority.
Goal: Park City SSBS has a mission to cultivate a connection to our people, our sport, our mountain, and our community. Our vision is to be the best ski and snowboard school where all instructors aspire to teach and every guest wants to take a lesson.
Objectives: During the initial two day training, assistant instructors will gain introductory knowledge of teaching the beginner progression to younger students, as well as how to assist with a larger group lesson. Throughout the training, assistant instructors will learn about policies and procedures related to the safe instruction of teaching. Additionally, assistant instructors will learn of the products offered by Park City Ski and Snowboard school. The curriculum is designed to help an apprentice instructor gain the skills to start their journey as an instructor.

Part of the uniform is your Name Tag - if you have not already done so, please submit your Name Tag Request now.
WHAT TO WEAR FOR TRAINING
The majority of your training will be taking place outside on snow. That means you will be spending long stretches of time outside. Dress appropriately for the weather.
SOME RULES OF THUMB FOR SUCCESSFUL TRAINING:
DO Be on time and have all of your gear.
DO Be Prepared to be Outside All Day. Wear appropriate snow-sports clothes for the weather: gloves, snow pants, a snow jacket, and an extra layer for cold days. Wear one pair of good ski socks!
DO Wear an Extra Layer: You will be learning about teaching Skiing and Snowboarding: that means you will be spending time standing and discussing, not ripping it as you might when on your own… an extra layer is always a good idea!
DO Wear Your Helmet: They are required, and don’t forget goggles!
DO Check the Forecast: Park City Weather Forecast
DO Bring a Snack: You will stop for lunch (buy on hill or bring with you), but it’s a good idea to have a small snack to stick in your pocket in case you get hungry early
DO Bring a Small Notebook and Pencil if you like to take notes
DO Have your Pass!
DO Use Sunscreen!
DO complete your health screen
